Oats-Banana Unniyappom !

Its really yummy , tasty & healthy too !



Ingredients

  1. Oats 1/2 cup (i used Old Fashioned Oats)
  2. Whole Wheat Flour 1/2 cup
  3. Semolina/Rava/sooji 1 and 1/2 tbsp
  4. Jaggery 3/4 cup
  5. Banana 1 medium
  6. Coconut 1 tbsp (grated or finely chopped)
  7. Cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
  8. Baking soda a small pinch
  9. Salt 1/4 tsp
  10. Water 3/4 cup
Method

  • First dry roast oats and powder it coarsely in a blender.
  • Then in a pan add jaggery n 1/4 cup of water and heat for 2-3 minutes or until it dissolve.
  • After that cool it and filter the jaggery water using tea filter n keep ready.
  • In a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, rava, powdered oats, salt, baking soda and mix well.




  • Now add jaggery water, grated coconut, mashed banana and cardamom powder and mix it and add remaining water and make it to a thick but free flowing batter (see pic).
  • Leave this mixture for at least 20-30 minutes after that u can deep fry in oil or fry it in paniyaram pan.
  • Heat Paniyaram pan, add few drops of oil in each hole, then pour batter 3/4 to each hole of the pan.




  • Cook in medium heat, cover the pan for 2 minutes after that open the lid and turn other and cook till done.



Once done remove from the pan and serve hot or warm

  1. Fabulous and really tempting. My mum used to make such lovely yappom during my growing up years. I would love to try but wonder if its possible with the required pan.
