Rava Upma/Salt Mango tree

Rava Upma is very popular breakfast among south Indians.I got certificate of  "Most horrible upma " from my husband several times.But that gives me an inspiration to try experiments.Now am little confident in making upma ;) U can make upma with Dried fruits & vegetables also..This z d basic upma recipe..
Upma got this "salt mango tree: name from a malayalam film-Doore doore oru koodu koottam....u can enjoy the comedy scene:-here


 Ingredients
  • 1 cup Rava/Semolina
  • 1 1/4cup Water(Normal,not boiled)
  • 1" piece Ginger
  • 1no chopped Onioin
  • 2no Green chilly
  • 2no Red chilly/Vattal mulak
  • 1tespn Mustard seeds
  • needed Salt
  • 2tbspn Oil
  • 2 spring Curry leaves

Cooking Directions
  1. Heat a flat pan and dry roast rava lightly on medium flame
  2. dont make it brown.,once done,remove from fore and keep it aside
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seends & allow it to splutter
  4. Than add chopped onioin,Ginger,Green chilly & curryleaves,saute for 2-3mins
  5. Then add water & salt, bring to boil
  6. wen it starts boiling,add roasted rava/semolina little at tym
  7. stir continuosly to avoid lumps
  8. Simmer and cook till upma is ready
  9. Serve hot with bananas

Note:-

to make ur upma rich, u can add cocnut milk/Milk instead of Water
U can also add urad along with mustard seeds
Garnish with nuts+kismis !
